Simplicity Signet
A Bitcoin signet with Simplicity support.
What is this?
This is a custom Bitcoin signet running Bitcoin Inquisition — a fork of Bitcoin Core designed for testing soft fork proposals on signet. In addition to the features of Bitcoin mainnet, our signet includes Simplicity, a new low-level blockchain programming language designed as a principled successor to Bitcoin Script.
Simplicity is already active on Liquid, and proposed for addition to Bitcoin Inquisition. This signet lets you experiment with Simplicity transactions on Bitcoin.
What can I do here?
- Connect to the Simplicity signet.
- Receive free signet-BTC from the faucet to fund test transactions.
- Create and spend Simplicity transactions.
- Browse the chain in the explorer.
- Experiment with Simplicity using Smplx, SimplicityHL, and rust-simplicity.
About Simplicity
Simplicity is a typed, combinator-based language with formal semantics, making it amenable to static analysis and formal verification. Key properties:
- Bounded resources — computational cost and memory usage are statically analyzable.
- Formal semantics — programs have a precise mathematical denotation, enabling machine-verified proofs of correctness.
- Introspection — native access to transaction data without Script's limitations.
- Merkleized — only the executed branches of a program need to be revealed on-chain.
